Starting first may allow you to lead the whole race if you manage the start and the first turn. Maybe you should consider yourself ready for the final on manual if you are and start in first place like I did at that point, meaning you know the track and how to deal with it. Personally, I managed to dominate the qualifiers and the semi-final (thanks to the automatic transmission and the camera). Logically in the pit, you don't have to touch anything, just start the race. Same settings for the race but just before the end I switched on manual transmission and cockpit view (in the last turn in my case, I had a certain lead over my opponents and I had time to be sure I had chosen the right view). I used all assists off (because I used to), hardcore damage on, but with automatic transmission and exterior view. In addition to natchnatty's guide, I tried to cross-reference the different guides to try something and it worked.
